Locate Task Scheduler in the Program menu and launch it. Locate ObjectStoreRecoveryTask,which is present on the middle pane ,right click on it and select Run. Many thanks this is the only method that actually worked for me I had tried pretty much all of the other fixes and none of them worked. Does the task have to finish running before opening wmc? Anyway when I open wmc it says it corrected a problem and I redownload the guide but nothing happens and if I choose to do it a second time it gives me the error again.
I live in Canada so I have a couple of. Im not sure if there is a conflict but I have had wmc running before with no problems.
Thanks — worked fine for me, in UK although after putting in:task into the Start Search I got only three programmes showing and instead had to search the c:drive using win explorer to find the Task Scheduler.
Thanks so much! I am running Win 8. Thanks again!!! It has worked for me, it appears a recent issue with DNS servers is redirecting the update server address to the wrong IP address! This post is only weeks old so its a very very recent issue. I hope this helps others! Tom, thanks for posting this link. It in fact fixed my issue by changing the hosts file to point to the right DNS servers. Obviously your fix was not the problem to the original thread posted over 2 years ago….

Note: If your WMC v 8. Does this work with the latest Windows 10 build ? I just tried it and after install, clicking on the icon nothing happens. Did you ever get a chance to test it out on Version ? Did try a restart just to see if that would work but no go. You need to install WMC version 8. You can find it on the Green Button forum.
WMC 8. I can not get it to work on a fresh install of a new build machine. Tried ununstall and reinstall still not working.
What did you find out? Hi i installed on win 10 but I plugged the cable tv and get an error saying All tv tuners are currently in use. To change the channel, seletc the program…. All functionality of WMC will be intact … I have tested it on Windows 10 Version and even on the latest Windows Insider build and it works absolutely fine. Are my codecs out of wack? It must have been some momentary interference on my antenna.

We do sometimes stream music from it, but use VLC media player for that. How can Microsoft justify taking my money then 4 years later render the product unusable? I was advised to install something called Kodi. Kodi is a fantastic product but none of the alternatives do the tv functionality including configuration in such an integrated way.
For Kodi you need to install a back end tv server. Media Portal is probably one of the best alternatives for tv functionality. Anybody else experiencing this phenomena?
